Camp Makgadikgadi stands along the Boteti River overlooking the Makgadikgadi National Park, on the western edge of the pans — skies that blaze with stars. Through the long dry months the river draws great gatherings of game, including Africa's second-largest zebra migration, to one of Botswana's least crowded corners.

Seasons
Our rates follow three seasons, and each offers a different Botswana. There is no bad time — only the trade-off between green-season value and dry-season game density.
Summer rains turn the bush green and the plains fill with newborn antelope and the predators that follow them. Migratory birds arrive in force and the Makgadikgadi comes alive with zebra. Expect warm days, spectacular afternoon storms, and the lowest rates of the year — with the fewest other vehicles around.
The bridge between wet and dry. In April–June the land is still green but drying, skies clear, and temperatures are comfortable; November brings the first storms and fresh growth. Wildlife viewing is rewarding, camps are uncrowded, and rates sit comfortably below peak.
The classic safari window. As the bush thins and waterholes shrink, wildlife concentrates around permanent water and sightings peak — even as the Okavango paradoxically fills with floodwater from the Angolan highlands. Cool mornings, blue-sky days, and the highest demand of the year.
Multi-Camp Journeys
Combine two or more ecosystems for a complete portrait of wild Botswana. Choose your preferred way to travel between camps.
Okavango · Makgadikgadi 2027
Water and fire. Drift through the channels of the Delta then emerge onto the vast lunar silence of the Makgadikgadi — two of Africa's greatest wildernesses, connected by light aircraft.
Okavango · Chobe 2027
From the papyrus channels of the Okavango to the great elephant herds of the Chobe — mokoro mornings at Khwai, then the largest elephant concentration on earth along the Chobe floodplains, linked by a short charter.
Linyanti · Chobe 2027
Two exclusive northern concessions. Move from the predator-rich Linyanti floodplains to the elephant-filled plateau of Ngoma — connected by a short charter from Saile to Kasane.
Okavango · Linyanti · Chobe 2027
Three iconic ecosystems — from the waterways and predators of the Delta, north to Linyanti's wild concessions, and on to Chobe's elephant kingdom at Ngoma.

Comprehensive travel and medical insurance — covering accidental death, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation — is a condition of booking. Light-aircraft transfers take soft-sided bags only, with per-person weight limits inclusive of hand luggage and camera equipment. Rates are subject to change; rates for confirmed bookings are honoured.
Before You Travel
A quick orientation for Botswana. Details vary by nationality and change over time — always confirm current requirements with official sources and your doctor before you fly.
Many nationalities enter Botswana visa-free for up to 90 days; a passport valid 6+ months with blank pages is required. Check your nationality's current requirements before travel.
Northern Botswana (Okavango, Linyanti, Chobe) is a malaria area — consult your doctor about prophylaxis. A yellow-fever certificate may be required if arriving from a risk country.
Comprehensive cover including medical evacuation is strongly recommended for every guest, given the remote nature of the camps and reliance on light-aircraft transfers.
The currency is the Botswana Pula (BWP). Camp extras and tips are commonly settled in USD. We do not accept card payments at our camps, so please travel with enough cash to cover extras, gratuities and any spending in remote areas.
Expect limited or intermittent Wi-Fi at remote camps — a welcome digital detox. Power is 220–240V; bring a universal adaptor for southern-Africa sockets.
Neutral earth-tone clothing, layers for cool mornings, and soft luggage within the 20 kg light-aircraft limit. Family-friendly stays available — minimum ages vary by camp, so enquire.
